Local actions make a global impact 🌎 🍃 Help our planet (and people!) by tapping into your local food system. Not sure how to start? Here are a few tips: 👩🏼🌾 Support local farmers. The #Rotary Club of Toledo-Poinero, Brazil partnered with the State Agricultural High School of Toledo to help 12 local farmers increase their production and revenue. ♻️Reduce food waste. Harvest Against Hunger, a program of Rotary District 5030 (Washington, USA), collects fresh, local produce that might otherwise go to waste and connects it to people who face food insecurity. 🥬 Re-think growing food. Regenerative agriculture leader, fourth-generation farmer, and member of Rotary E-Club WASH District 9999 Angela TenBroeck says. "You don't have to have acres and acres to have food for people in their community. I call it the guerrilla gardening method; you garden on every stitch of dirt.” What are your planet-friendly tips? 🌎👇

Ed Pettitt is on a mission to cool down Houston's urban core 🏙️💡 "Houston's heat problem is everyone's problem," says Pettitt, president of the Rotary Club of Houston Skyline and a doctoral student in urban planning and environmental policy. "By addressing urban heat islands, we're taking a crucial step toward a cooler and more equitable future for our city." With temperatures soaring, especially in low-income areas like the Third Ward, Pettitt's work highlights the urgent need for action.
